There is a saying among scrapbookers - "What happens at a Crop, stays at a Crop!"  For those of you who have never attended a weekend event  - you might not be sure what I am talking about. - For those of you that have - you know EXACTLY what I am talking about !!  The friendships, laughter and creativity is always flowing and a good time is had by all !

Scrap-a-Doodle Doo's last event was the weekend of February 8,9 &10, and was held at the BEAUTIFUL Crowne Plaza Hotel, in Suffern, NY.  Even though we had one of the largest snowfalls of the winter, it was attended by over 100 scrappers!  It was kind of fun being "snowed in" together!  Here is my car on Saturday morning!!  There had to be @ 2 feet of snow!

The hotel did a great job of cleaning the parking lot, and even had some of their staff offer to help dig out our cars!!

Each of THE DOO's weekend events have a "theme," which is carried out in the decorations, food, and even give-aways! Everyone scraps what they want to work on -regardless of the theme, and the theme changes with each crop.  This last weekend's event was (appropriately)  "Chinese New Year!"  The room was decorated with black and red, there were balloons, fans, dragons, gold coins, and even a "dragon" for photo ops!!

Here is my "sign" at my crop space - I'm all ready to get started with my Starbucks Kcup, and my Chinese food container filled with snacks and a custom die cut courtesy of Scrap-a-Doodle Doo!

FYI - Upcoming 2013 Crop Dates and info can be found by CLICKING HERE -- register EARLY, as you don't want to miss out on these AMAZING weekends!!

Even though this "DOO" weekend was attended by over 100 people, you still felt like you were a special guest at all times. The 4' of crop space per person is great, and Stephanie, THE DOO CREW and the Vendors that attend add so much to the event. Everyone has a great time! Here is a photo of the room that I took on Sunday, when everyone was starting to finish and pack up:

Here is my "Photo Op" with the Dragon and my good friend and scrappin' buddy Janice!

The FOOD is always delicious, and there is always a great selection of choices.  The breakfast buffet includes a chef making omelets and eggs to order - as well as a make your own Belgian Waffle station -all included in your crop package!

Saturday night's dinner is usually based on the event's theme - the food was so yummy!

I didn't have anymore room on my plate!

And - the chef made a beautiful dragon ice carving too!
It was located at the dessert buffet, and had lighting that changed colors!

While there are always WONDERFUL Desserts from the Hotel ..... one of our VERY Talented Scrapper / Friends ( Pattie!!!) usually makes and treats everyone with AMAZING HOMEMADE GOODIES!!  In keeping with the THEME - she actually made us homemade fortune cookies!!  They were AWESOME!!

Check out the fortune - it says "One person's "scrap" is another person's treasure!"

Along with the chance to book time with one of 2 masseuses, the Amazing Ronnie is there for foot reflexology.  This time, Scrap-a-Doodle Doo even offered and paid for an introduction to Qi Gong lesson for any of the attendees who cared to participate.

There are usually scrapbook classes you can attend for an additional fee too. This is a picture of the dimensional layout that I taught to a group of lovely ladies on Friday evening:
The ladies all seemed to have a great time - and all did a great job too!!

There are also vendors at each event. In the past, Close to My Heart, Creative Memories, Mary Kay, Lia Sophia, and Tastefully Simple, Family Jewlz have been represented.

OH - and let's not forget that Stephanie, Mark and the whole DOODLE DOO TEAM bring about half of the STORE with them - so don't worry if you forget something - they usually will have it with them, and if not - they make runs back to the store to restock all weekend!

If you've never been to a scrapbook weekend - I highly recommend you give it a try. We all need some time for ourselves, and spending time releasing our creative energy not only improves our minds and well being, it recharges our batteries, and gives us something to look forward too, during the doldrums of everyday life and tasks.

If you've never been to a SCRAP-A-DOODLE DOO weekend - you don't know what you are missing!!! - They provide TOP NOTCH customer service, and a smoothly and FRIENDLY run event. If you don't have anyone to go with - don't worry - all of the attendees are so friendly and helpful. You will leave the weekend with a bunch of completed projects, and a whole bunch of new scrapping buddies!!

Hope to see you at a DOO WEEKEND soon!

Ugh, so so so bummed I missed this one... but I HAVE been to a Doo crop in the past, and my favorite part has GOT to be the company... ALWAYS a good time with good people and good laughs while the scrapping gets done! :)

My favorite part of a "Doo" weekend is the attentive service. Even though I've made the trek to the store once, Steph and Mama-Doodle know me by name. It is so nice to be treated so well. Oh, and don't forget the great prizes! This last one was extra special when a certain someone shared her homemade Limoncello! Thanks for the memories, ladies!
